What is boudoir photography? Will I have to be naked?

Boudoir photography is technically any photograph taken of you in your "boudoir" (ie your bedroom). usually in lingerie or in the nude. However, the genre has transformed in modern times to be any photographs that are meant to empower you and build your confidence and make you feel sexy and beautiful. For some, that is lingerie in the forest; for others, it's beautiful dresses and costumes in a studio. And for even some others, it's a loose t-shirt with nothing underneath in their own bedroom. My sessions are custom, which means I work with you to determine what is going to make you feel your most beautiful.

Many of my sessions are done outside, but just as many are done privately inside either in a studio setting or the comfort of your home. Your comfort is always my top priority! While I think outdoor sessions are the most stunning, I am more than happy to work exclusively in an indoor setting.

 

How much does this cost?

The complete boudoir experience starts at $590 which includes a pre-session consultation, creation of a mood or Pinterest board, professional hair and makeup, access to my size-inclusive client wardrobe, a photoshoot with full posing assistance, a $500 image credit, and a private viewing and ordering session where we view your images together so I can answer any editing questions or concerns you have. I offer digital images, prints, albums, wall art, and many other gorgeous products so that you can truly enjoy all the beautiful artwork we create together.

My collection prices begin at $1590, but there is no minimum purchase - feel free to only use your image credit, but don't be upset if you love ALL your portraits and want to have all of them! I do offer interest-free payment plans to keep your experience budget friendly, so please don't hesitate to ask about your options.

 

Do you edit and retouch all my images?

Absolutely. And I respect whatever level of retouching you want, whether that's a light hand for a bit of under-eye circles, or a full glamour-retouch, I am here to make sure your images make your heart happy. I am a body-positive photographer, but I understand that body acceptance for many is a journey, and I am here to meet you wherever you are. I'm also skilled in using posing and lighting to highlight what you love about yourself and minimize whatever you're less enthused about. In your viewing session, you can even give specific editing requests for the images you decide to purchase.

 

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my session?

We understand that life happens and availability can change. If you need to reschedule your session, please let us know as soon as possible. We will work with you to find a new date that works for both of us. If you need to cancel your session, we will refund your deposit if it is more than 2 weeks before the scheduled date. Cancellations within 2 weeks of your session date will result in the loss of your deposit.

 

Do you share my images online?

While I'm bursting with pride at all the photographs I take of my amazing clients, I share only what is explicitly allowed by you. Boudoir Photography is extremely vulnerable for many women, and I take your privacy seriously. You are absolutely entitled to keep every single image private. Image downloads are also password/email protected. 

 

Should I try to lose weight/get into shape beforehand?

You are absolutely perfect exactly as you are right now. I will never tell a client that their body isn't good enough to be photographed or that you need to change a single thing. You are beautiful and worthy simply by being human. My business is a safe space for all bodies and women of all ages, and I promise I will find beauty for you to celebrate no matter what.

 

I'm super awkward in front of the camera! Should I still book?

Most women start out feeling nervous and anxious, but by the end they feel relaxed and confident! I am comfortable posing all women in all bodies from head to toe. If you have physical limitations, I can absolutely work around those confidently. During our pre-session consultation, we will meet in person and go over all the details including anything you're unsure or insecure about. You're going to look and feel amazing, don't worry!

 

How do I prepare? And what should I wear?

I have a guide I will send you after booking to help you get ready and know what to expect. We will also meet in person to go over any questions you have and for me to guide you through the process. I have a client wardrobe you are welcome to use, but I know many women buy a few things, as well - that's totally welcome, but not required. 

 

Will my photos be tasteful/respectful?

They will absolutely be to YOUR taste. Boudoir encompasses a wide range of styles and I'm comfortable making your photos PG or R rated or a combination thereof - it's all up to you! Bottom line - I am here to make you realize your beauty and make you feel confident and empowered, however that is defined by you.
